Ham and Eggs Have Lots of Friends

I have lots of friends in my neighborhood. There are other dogs, lots of birds, and even a few cats. Sometimes I bark at the cats and squirrels, but I still love them. Ham has his own friends too.

But Ham and I are still best friends. Do you have a best friend like Ham?

Over the past weeks I have shared with you many of our friends and our adventures. Like cooking, swimming, and going to school. I think it would be fun if you did some drawings of your friends and the adventures you have together.

Ham and Eggs Go to Church

Every Sunday Ham and his mom and dad go to church. Why do they get all dressed up and leave the house for the morning? I was curious. So one Sunday I decided to go with them. It was really fun!

There were all kinds of things to do. Before church I had donuts in the Fellowship Hall. During the service some people passed around what looked like a dog bowl. I thought there might be a treat inside, but the bowl was only filled with money. I especially loved the music. Everyone in the room stood up to sing. Things went great until I decided to sing with the choir. I guess the choir director was planning on sining a different song. Oh well. I still sounded great!

Ham Gets Sick

One day Ham got really sick. At first we didn't know what was wrong. Ham just got very tired and went to bed. Finally the doctor came to our house and examined Ham. The doctor said that Ham had the chicken pox! How could Ham get chicken pox? We don't know any chickens!

None of Ham's friends could stop by and visit. But I stayed him day and night. I didn't go swimming, tree climbing, or bike riding until Ham got better. Have you ever been really sick? What was it like for you?

Did you know that the best way to stay healthy is to wash your hands? It's true! Here are 5 easy steps to staying clean and healthy.
1) Use soap and warm water.
2) When your hands are soapy wash them completely. Sing the "ABC" song while you wash.
3) Rinse your hands.
4) Dry your hands with a clean towel.
5) Do this before you eat and after you use the bathroom.

Ham and Eggs Get Ready for Bed

After a fun day of swimming and doing chores it's time for Ham and I to get ready for bed. Most nights that means it bath time! Of course, I get to be the Lifeguard. It's my most important job of the day, keeping Ham safe in the bathtub. Dad doesn't seem to understand that sometimes I need to dive in to rescue Ham!

After our baths we get ready for bed. I love bed time. We read our favorite books. Ham likes space adventures the most. I prefer animal stories. Do you have a favorite bed time book?

When I first came to live with Ham I needed a night light. It made me feel safe and reminded me of my mother. When I sleep with Ham I don't need a night light. It's great to have a room-mate.

Ham and Eggs Do Their Chores

Every day Ham and I have "chores" to do. I don't know why they are called chores. That sounds like work. I think they are fun! In the Autumn we rake leaves. Dad showed us how. He's pretty organized. He rakes them into rows then into piles. I figure if you just run around enough the leaves should blow into big piles.

Our job is to rake the leaves into huge piles. Sometimes we get carried away with our work. I think Ham's mom likes it better when I don't help with the chores. Next we need to put all the leaves into big plastic bags. That way the leaves can be taken to the city dump to be composted. We save some of our leaves for our own compost bin.

Composting is like recycling only for organic stuff, like leaves, fruit and veggie scraps from the kitchen, and coffee grounds. When they sit in a composter long enough they all turn into rich soil to spread in your garden.
